Workshops

Usually scheduled for an entire day with a lunch break, or for two consecutive mornings or afternoons, Introductory Workshops are designed to introduce the Technique to smaller groups (usually five to ten people) and to permit time for hands-on experience for each participant. These are usually held at the School or at the teaching studio of individual teachers, but may be arranged in alternate locations if there is sufficient space for students to move in the room and to lie down. Additional time may be scheduled to permit each student to have a private lesson with the teacher. For a complete list of scheduled workshops and other events, visit the calendar of events.

There are many things about the Alexander Technique that surprised me. First, it is so gentle. Because I have chronic problems with muscle and joint discomfort, most forms of therapeutic massage are painful. The pace of Alexander work is carefully matched to the body’s level of comfort. Further, the re-learning of posture and movement is making me much more comfortable as I go through my day. Even with an inner ear condition that impairs my balance, through the technique I have learned how to maintain orientation. I also have much more freedom of movement.
