Intensives

These are residential courses that offer an in-depth experience in the technique for a weekend or a more extended period, such as one or two weeks. The group meets for six or seven hours per day and private lessons are included. Intensives are often scheduled during the summer, and may also be designed around a particular theme or aimed to a particular skill or problem, such as improving performance technique.

I had a posture that mimicked my father—rounded shoulders, neck forward—which contributed to headaches and tension. The Alexander Technique has greatly improved that. When your posture improves, you look more confident. I stand taller but more relaxed. Being in the building business, I like that it’s focused on structural elements, not on diets, stretching or exercise.

As a musician and runner, I have found the Alexander Technique invaluable. It has helped me become much more aware of my habits while playing my instruments and running. Not only has this enabled me to avoid injury but I find that I’m able to relax and enjoy performing and running much more.
