For Freedom and Balance in Body, Mind and Spirit Experience the Alexander Technique

Description: Whether you’re playing an instrument, driving a car, using a computer, exercising, writing, or cooking, unconscious habits of tension can interfere with your activity and cause fatigue or pain. The Alexander Technique is an educational method that helps you eliminate these harmful habits through increased awareness and control in everyday activities. In this introductory workshop we will discuss the basic principles of this method, and demonstrate how you can apply them in ordinary movements. If you’ve been curious about the Alexander Technique, this is an enjoyable way to find out more.

Description: Do you love to dance, do yoga, tai chi, or just move your body? Using principles of the Alexander Technique you can enjoy moving even more. This world-renowned method will help you improve body awareness and uncover patterns of tension that effect posture and alignment. Description: Are you an instrumentalist or vocalist experiencing tension or stress when you play or sing? Is poor posture or discomfort holding you back from performing at your full potential? Over the past 100 years, performing artists have found the Alexander Technique to be an effective method for managing the many demands they face both on and off stage. In this experiential course you will begin to improve your body awareness and reduce unnecessary muscle tension, allowing you to perform with greater ease and control. Through group activity and one-on-one instruction you will also learn healthy practicing techniques, how to prevent injury, and skills for improving your musicality and sound. This class is intended for instruments and vocalists at all levels. Classes are taught by Eric Miller, an experienced teacher of the Alexander Technique, musician, and composer.
