Mission

The first mission of ATCNE is to provide the highest quality instruction in the principles and practice of the Alexander Technique to people of all ages, backgrounds, interests, and levels of skill.

The second mission of ATCNE is to train highly skilled teachers of the Alexander Technique through the Teacher Training Program.

The third mission of ATCNE is to provide Continuing Education courses that meet teachers’ professional development needs through Post-Graduate Study and the Faculty Development Program.

Educational Approach

  • ATCNE teachers are committed to maintaining a high level of teaching skill through pursuing an ongoing program of professional development.

  • ATCNE teachers generate an environment that promotes learning through mutual respect and trust, and actively supports the student’s sense of psychological safety.

  • ATCNE teachers convey the principles and practice of the Alexander Technique in a manner that is both true to Alexander’s discoveries and freshly creative and fun.

  • ATCNE teachers strive to foster each student’s unique process of change and growth through thoughtful, sensitive attention to the student’s individual learning style.
